Change of Scenery

I am the first to acknowledge that academia affords some incredible bonuses, one being the time to travel and recharge between semesters. Regardless of circumstance or geography, I think it's vital to see and work from new material as often as possible, activating the visual spark that keeps drawings vitalized. Is this all a rationalization for being on vacation? Nonetheless, I recommend the coral...

Happy holidays and enjoy the new year ahead!

  1. Hi Sara,
I got a google alert my drawing and coloring page and came to look.
This is a very nice blog. As you are aware, every painting needs to be drawn first, accurate w/c's not only have to be pattern outline drawn but the white highlights have to be drawn also. These highlight outlines can't be touched by water or they will become black pigment.

Each of these colorbook drawings were scanned before they were painted. The printed colorbook page was glued to masonite, gessoed and the picture was painted on location.

    Merry Christmas,
    Don
